A force slams into him, plastering him against the door. He stabs wildly with the knife but fingers close around his wrist and twist enough to force him to let go. He manages to untangle his crossed legs, but that helps none as with a step closer, he’s pinned in place. Another hand grabs his other wrist and then forces it up, just like the other, crossing them together above his head, tightly against the door.
“Caught you,” Slade says, satisfaction oozing from him, the smug smirk now on full display as somewhere along the line, he ditched his helmet, “Again.”

Tim realized Gotham didn't need a Robin somewhere between the electrocution and the water boarding.
It needed something that would be able to compete with all the worst crazies, and still come out on top. Someone even more insane than Joker and less morally bound than Batman. A protector willing to get as ugly as Gotham herself was ugly.
Too bad Bruce didn't agree.
Or Damian.
Or Steph, or Cass, or any of his old so-called friends.
He'd show them then.
They could ban him from the masks and capes but he'd prove exactly why Gotham needed a Red Hood.

“Bucky,” he whined, the third time Jarvis had said they couldn’t go to the rooftop garden because it wasn’t safe. Like safe how? Were they afraid they’d both jump? That Bucky would suddenly become a different person and throw Jason over the edge? At this point, he might welcome it. Except for the part where he went splat. “I hate it here,” he said as he leaned into Bucky’s body.
“I know, pal.” Bucky ran his hands through Jason’s hair, picking apart any knots in his curls. “They’re gonna have to let us out eventually.”
“Sergeant Barnes, Mr Todd is allowed to leave at any time,” Jarvis said. “It is you that is not permitted.”
Jason glared up at the ceiling, resting his chin on Bucky’s stomach. “One, no one invited you into this conversation. Two, if Bucky can’t leave, I’m not leaving, and three, fuck off.”
“Jaybug, remember how we’re trying not to curse.”
He stuck his tongue out. “Butt out,” he said to the ceiling instead.

Drug overdoses have decreased by twenty two percent in adults and seventy nine percent in minors. Homeless minors are ninety two percent less likely to—”
“Kid,” Jason interrupted. “Enough statistics. What the hell is this about?”
Robin slowly lowered the tablet with his powerpoint presentation and looked up at Red Hood.
“You care about Gotham,” Robin summarised. “Gotham needs Batman. Batman is missing and so is Nightwing. We need you to fill in for Batman.”
“You want me to cover Batman’s patrols?” Jason clarified.
“No,” Robin said. “I want you to be Batman.”
Jason bluescreened.
(Or: Batman and Nightwing mysteriously disappear before Red Hood has even started antagonising them, Robin is desperate, Gotham needs Batman, and Red Hood is Batman-Shaped.)
