Summary
When Lottie Matthews returns from the wilderness, nothing is the same. They were able to save Max and stop the fourth gate from opening, but they all know that Vecna was just going to return stronger, and it was only a matter of time before the world as they know it comes crumbling down.

The voice was gentle, familiar enough that Mike didn’t startle. He looked up just as Will stepped onto the roof, the cold wind tugging at the sleeves of his coat. Will crossed the short distance between them and sat down beside him, close enough that their shoulders nearly brushed.
Mike smiled before he could stop himself. “Hey, Will.”
Will smiled back, soft and a little shy, like he always did when it was just the two of them. “Hi, Mike.”
For a moment, neither of them said anything. They didn’t need to. Will’s presence settled beside him like something that had always belonged there, warm and steady against the cold night air.
