Summary
Usagi Yusuke is the second son of Hidden Tokyo's Usagi Clan. He is a mediocre, masterless samurai-in-training. He is also, abruptly, a father. The last of those, according to his elder brother, is a shameful thing. The last of those, in Yusuke's opinion, makes the former unimportant. He will do what he must to provide for his son, even if that means moving half a world away and cutting ties with his family entirely.
Of course, just because he has loved and let go does not mean his nephew has the same intention.

One, the Shredder? That interstellar warlord who's been the scourge of the Orion Arm for centuries? Yeah, he's their ancestor. No, Leo's never asked to see the family tree. Yeah, it's one of those secrets you never, ever say out loud.
Two, Dad left the clan in a hurry, when he was only a couple years older than they are now. Too cold, he says, too violent. Too much death. Leo's really fucking glad, because being evil sounds like the worst thing ever.
Three, the woman who just walked into Big Mama's office is wearing their mon.

Piebald as a primary character saves Leo from his former "employer" and squirrels him off to the Hamato, who may or may not be evil space ninja, all whilst Leo fends off his PTSD and tries to find a way back to his family. Treasure Planet vibes. Incredibly good meta-narration. An author who responds to comments! I've been on the edge of my seat reading this and find new things to screech about with every re-read.
