Rumi opens her mouth, but no words come out. Jinu continues.
“I get it, trust me. But what trumps those bitter feelings is the fact that I’m with you. I want to be with you all. The. Time. My love is for you and only you. Two makes a pair.” He holds up Rumi’s other skate by the shoelaces and holds it out towards her. She presses her hands on top of his for an instant, holding his gaze, then holds her two skates together.
OR: Jinu and Rumi go on an ice skating date (and grab hotteok afterwards!)

Maybe things would have been different if she had pushed up the Golden release.
Rumi's voice is in trouble and there doesn't seem to be any solution. Things only get more complicated when she is offered a proposal from the demon world to solve both their problems, but there's no way she can accept it no matter how enticing Gwi-Ma's messenger tries to make it.

Summary
Rumi sits on an unassuming rooftop as fireworks go off above the Sports Complex center. It's been a long week. The Honmoon is weakening, the Saja Boys are flooding social media, this ache in Rumi's skin just won't stop bothering her, and she had to lie once again to hide her patterns from the girls.
After everything Rumi has been through she just wants to relax, get out of the tower for a bit, and enjoy the fireworks. Unfortunately, Jinu happens to run into her.
But, just maybe, his presence isn't all that bad.

Rumi instead takes in all of Celine, there's an iv line attached to the vein at the crook of her left elbow, still administering whatever fluids prescribed to her. Weary eyes point downwards, her mouth is pressed into a thin line. Her face seems a little more hollowed out from the last time she saw her. The small streaks of grey hair has never made her look as old as it does now.

So... why was Rumi's second verse so different?
Zoey and Mira decide to ask, then proceed to analyze the heck out of the stanza.

The author spends too much time analyzing tenses, and surely the other two had SOME QUESTIONS about Rumi's verse in Golden.

“It’s strange.” It’s probably a lapse in judgement, a moment of stupidity, a boldness undue and inappropriate, but she lifts her hands and slips them into his warm palms. They’re so much bigger than hers. The blue light of the tanks on either side catches the sickening mauve of her patterns, but Rumi doesn’t feel disgust this time. She sees his patterns, too, and senses a bond. “It’s like I can tell you anything.”
Jinu curls his fingers around her hands in a steady grip. Warmth rushes through her frame, and she feels her face heat. Thank god he can’t see it. And softly, he says, “Then we’re already halfway there.”
