This seemingly endless trek through the summer heat is becoming a problem. Geralt’s mind keeps wanting to go fuzzy around the edges, softening under the sun’s rays like an old piece of leather. It’s been weeks since he’s had the time to be truly soft, malleable under Jaskier’s kind hands and words. It’s hard to be soft when you always have to be wary of things that wish to kill you. He can feel himself slipping at random intervals, the days shaving away at his control. But what can he truly do about that now? Nothing but wait for a moment of reprieve.
