She has to rely on her wits to survive Prythian and this evil faerie's mysterious intentions, first Under the Mountain and then the Night Court.
Rhysand can't rationalize why he stole a snarling mortal girl away from the Spring Court. But when he drags her Under the Mountain, first to toy with her and then for some real companionship while in Amarantha's claws, he begins to realize that this odd mortal is more important to him than he wishes her to be.

He should leave. He’d made his move. He'd shown his hand. Maybe more than he should have, outright turning down the gift of a Made weapon in exchange for a chance at Nesta's hand in marriage.
There was nothing more to be gained here.

A retelling of ACOSF, starting at the Winter Solstice Ball, where Eris decides that he can’t—won’t let Nesta slip out of his grasp this easily. Nesta, feeling trapped in a life she never chose, accepts his offer to train her power at the Autumn Court.

When Nesta learns that her father has lost her sisters inheritance, she has few choices left. There was no knight in shining armor to save them, or any relatives willing to take them in. The only thing a woman has left is her body, and if she is doomed to be a fallen woman, she can at least choose who's mistress she'll be.
Cassian McKay has made it perfectly clear he will never take a wife. It makes him completely unsuitable as a husband, in addition to being rude, scottish, and incapable of carrying on a polite conversation.
Good thing Nesta isn't looking for one. If he's willing to save her sisters, she'll agree to anything... including being his.
