Summary
A child was born too awake for the world he entered. Only an old dragonsong could quiet him as a babe, and only blindness made the world bearable. The world itself learned early to keep his eyes covered, lest his gaze unmake what it sees. As he grew, fire would not burn him, steel would not reach him, and violence seemed to halt just short of his skin.
Recorded once as Saelyx Targaryen, he did not keep the name. He became Satoru, a choice rather than an inheritance, a deliberate severing from Valyria, the Iron Throne, and the weight of a dead dynasty. It was a name he claimed for freedom, not knowing it would echo just as loudly in the dark. Targaryen was a house of one man who did not want it, and Satoru served no throne but himself, moving through the world by curiosity alone.
Elsewhere, Sandor Clegane, the Hound, survived fire and was shaped by it. His name and his place were imposed, his house reduced to a single man while his brother wore white and he wore scars. Where Satoru was untouched by fire, Sandor was marked by it; where one chose, the other obeyed. Despite the stark difference between them, their paths would cross again and again.
