Hen picks up on the third ring, smugness evident in her voice as she greets, "Edmundo Diaz. Why ever could you be calling at this hour?"
Eddie grits his teeth and sighs, "I need some advice."
Hen hums. "And it couldn't wait until morning?"
"It's kind of time sensitive," Eddie admits with a wince.
"I see. This advice you're so desperately in need of wouldn't happen to have anything to do with Coffee Guy, would it?"
"I don't recall saying I was desperate."
"Eddie," Hen says, unimpressed.
"Ugh, fine!" Eddie throws an arm up with all the flourish of an actress in a telenovela and then crosses it over his chest and tucks his hand into his armpit, embarrassed by his own dramatics. "It might possibly have to do with the guy I ran into at breakfast, yes."

Or: in which probationary firefighter Eddie bumps into Navy SEAL Buck at a brunch spot in downtown L.A., and the story changes. (But not that much.)

Summary
Evan Buckley is 26 and lives in L.A. with his parents after dropping out of the SEALs training. He’s lost and confused and lonely (his sister lives with her boyfriend and he pushed away the only friends he had). One day he gets in a serious accident where his leg is badly injured, sending him into a panic spiral. He is terrified that he will lose his leg and the firefighters on the scene think they will have to sedate him. At least until firefighter Eddie Diaz enters the scene and ends up being the only one who manages to calm him down.
Eddie is 27 and a probationary firefighter at the 118. He lives in L.A. with his 7-year-old son, Christopher and he struggles with his relationship with his parents and his lack of friends after moving from Texas.
Despite his captain's advice, he doesn’t stop looking for Buck after they drop him off at the hospital and that means he gets so much more than a friend for life.

I let myself Woge without even trying to stop it. He stopped laughing but didn’t react other than growing still and examining me. And, oh, those eyes. The blackest depths one would never reach the bottom of; the reflection of my primal nature: the killer, the animal…but also something I’d never heard described in the gaze of a Grimm: acceptance. Maybe because it was this Grimm, but what should be an unsettling reflection was just…what it was. I was a Pflichttreue, a man with a feline predator inside him, and that was okay. It gave me a tingle inside and my fur stood up a bit.
I Woged back to human and met those grey eyes, finding myself oddly missing those black depths. It was the first sign (one I paid no attention to) that I was in trouble.

Minho’s mouth makes an o shape and his eyebrows rise in mild surprise. Well, this admittedly wasn’t all that shocking to him. But why would Hyunjin be full on breaking down over this?
…Oh. Well actually, Minho realized, there is a reason he could be reacting this way.
[Hyunjin is in unrequited love with Felix, and confides in Minho. Their relationship grows.]

“You…I don’t…” Felix was shaking his head, seeming lost in his thoughts. He ducked his head for a moment, leaning a little against Hyunjin’s hold on him, and when he looked up into his face again his eyes were red and glassy. “Why don’t you like me?” he whispered, his voice cracking.

Felix moves into a house on campus with five other guys and feels instantly at home, except for the fact that the one boy he wants attention from the most doesn't seem to want anything to do with him.

'You never smiled at me while walking through the campus,' Chan pursed his lips.
'Hyung never smiled at me either,' Seungmin's lips moved in his periphery.
"Can you guys drop it?" Minho groaned. Although, when he looked at them, he watched as identical smiles lit their faces up, their eyes focused behind Minho.
Minho turned around to see Hyunjin and Felix walking up to their table. But a part of him believed that their eyes crinkled further when they made eye contact with Minho.'Can we sit here? If it's not an inconvenience,' Felix asked.
Before Minho knew it, someone was saying yes. He looked back to see that the culprit was Chan—when Chan met his gaze, he simply smiled and raised his brows for Minho to take note that Hyunjin and Felix were sitting on either side of him.
Oh.
Minho suddenly understood the look on his friends' faces, the way they were watching Hyunjin and Felix interact with Minho. Oh. The two of them were quite literally ignoring the others and focusing solely on Minho.
…oh.
Minho was doomed.

Felix feels Hyunjin behind him before his arms wrap around his middle. "You want more jewellery?" Hyunjin asks as he rests his head on Felix's shoulder. "What I gave you isn't enough, uh?"Felix raises his hand, looking at the homaika rings adorning his index finger. One white. One black. Hyunjin holds up his hand next to Felix's. The same rings on his ring finger.
"Couple rings," Hyunjin croons in Felix's ear and wiggles his fingers.
The sun manages to reach down even here and a few rays shine through the pink and blue parasols that keep them somewhat separate from the rest of the world. The light dances over their hands as Felix wiggles his against Hyunjin's too.
"Couple rings," he agrees.
Hyunjin closes his hand around Felix's, enveloping it. Felix relaxes into him even though he knows he shouldn't. Then Hyunjin turns his head and kisses Felix's neck. It only lasts for a second. Just a brief brush of Hyunjin's lips against Felix's skin.
Hyunjin is already letting him go and stepping away when something makes Felix look up. He finds himself staring straight into a pair of wide eyes and a raised camera phone.
