Logically, Jean has seen alcohol before. On the marble counter of their kitchen back in Marseilles, in guests glasses - ruby red wine the adults spoke about like prized pieces of art. On his father’s breath when he was particularly agitated about the fact that he was reminded he had any responsibilities at all. Jean knew alcohol.
One year and a half at the nest almost erased these memories. Any raven bringing alcohol into the hall of the nest was immediately written off. You were in it to be the best or you weren’t part of the team at all. There were no breaks, no parties and strictly no celebrations. Every game win was simply a lesson to be learned - more of the good and no mistakes. The Master always found mistakes- no matter how much they thrashed their opponent.
Which is why Jean stared at the bottle of vodka in front of him like it was an alien object descended from the sky.
“Where did you get this?” he asked, then immediately followed up - “do you want to die?”
Or: Kevin and Jean get drunk, then have sex.

Kevin was staring a hole into the door. He almost reached to knock, then hesitated and took another lap up and down the corridor. The events of the past couple of hours were imprinted on his mind like a cruel tattoo, no amount of rationalizing made things better.
