Summary
A collection of fics featuring the Chain with powers based off the +Anima manga series.
In this AU, the Goddess Hylia grants her chosen heroes each an anima, an animal spirit that merges itself with their soul and grants them the use of their respective abilities on their quest. When dormant, these spirits manifest themselves as tattoos on the hero’s skin, and when in use, shapeshift a portion of the hero’s body to grant access to their ability. Certain magic (such as that of the Dark World or Twilight Realm) can drag this animal spirit to the forefront, transforming the entire body into their respective animal, but the ability to freely shapeshift to this extent is a rarity.

Summary
Legend has made peace with a lot of things: old injuries, nightmares, the goddesses' terrible sense of humor, being dragged out of retirement for yet another quest.
He has not, actually, made peace with being the only one in the Chain that nobody touches.

Legend wants a hug so he turns into a rabbit to get one.

The Hero's laugh seems to echo in time with the spell. "Maybe not."
"You'll die down here," Dark Link says as flatly as he can manage, "Your flesh will rot from your bones and you'll be nothing more than a smear along the wall."
"Like you?" the Hero asks, just as careful and meticulously cruel as the failure of a spell Dark Link cannot wield.
[or: Dark Link fucked up by attempting a spell way out of his paygrade. Four fucked up by getting captured by Hylia's most emo Hero. Ganon fucked up by leaving the three of them alone together. ...wait, three?]
[Or: or: in typical four fashion, "what do you MEAN i can't bring the stray creature of darkness home with me???"]

“THAT DAMN GREEDY BASTARD.” Of course, Legend is a hero who chooses to help people. It's what he does. And he thought Ravio understood that, so why did that scammer send him a bill for weapons he already owned? They had a system worked out, and Ravio had to go and ruin it by being complicated. Legend crumpled the bill and threw it across the room, curling up into a ball and screaming. He just didn’t understand.

"Exile still seems the best option, Stoick..."
Stoick should have known better. While he didn't know much about his son-especially now-he knew the boy was clever. It should have been no surprise when a guard burst into the Council Meeting and revealed that Hiccup had escaped the cell Stoick put him in...hours after the boy was revealed to have saddled a dragon.
Hiccup is gone, and so is the beast.
They search, but do not find him. Berk falls asleep one night and awakens in the Great Hall, where the torches come to life and cast an image of their isle on the wall, from which floats Hiccup's voice, years younger.
AKA, Hiccup forfeited the final challenge, leaving Astrid with the right to kill the Nightmare. Story picks up in the Race to the Edge era, except Berk never learned the truth of dragons, no one knows how Hiccup really lost his leg, and stories of a hooded 'vigilante' riding a Night Fury have been long whispered...and Berk will see it all unfold.

Four is no stranger to being possessed. This does not worry him - any part of him - much at all.
Oh, right, and of course he hasn't told anyone he has experience in this.
Everyone's entitled to their secrets and Four is far from the exception. Besides, it's not like this particular secret (it's not even really a secret, more of an omission that he never had reason to mention) is ever going to be relevant, right?
Except. One of his travelling companions on this new adventure turns out to have a rather familiar ability.
OR: Four, before he was Four, learned much of his swordsmanship skills (beyond the basics) on the fly during his first quest. With time of the essence, some dubiously moral corners were cut in order for him to learn those skills quickly. A certain melody from one of his new brothers-by-soul reminds him of that.
OR: I don't think enough people are talking about the fact that in Minish Cap, Link learns the spin attack, dash attack, etc. by getting possessed, even if it is momentarily. I have Thoughts on this.

“Well,” the boy said to it as the sun dipped closer to the trees, “your hero didn't show up yet, but I bet they're coming! I bet they're real nice, too. You’re probably going to save the world together.”
He was borrowing it. He was borrowing the Sword of Legend, and… what, checking in to see if it was needed? Waiting for a hero to come for it?
It wasn’t sure what to think. It wasn’t supposed to think about its wielders. But it found itself looking forward to the stories, keeping an eye out while the boy slept, memorizing as much of the information he gave it as it could.
Its job was to protect the innocent, after all.
Or: Hyrule finds a sword. The sword has opinions about this.

… Why, the deity was not sure.
“I do not… understand what is happening,” it said quietly, its brow creasing slightly as it stared into the fire.
“We’re getting cozy,” the Hero of the Winds said matter of factly, as though it were immutable truth, and snuggled closer.

Link looks at the bundle of dirty linen on Ravio’s lap and realises it is not a bundle of dirty lined, but the emaciated body of a kid. The poor thing is so skinny he almost disappears into his own clothes. Link cringes as seeing the gaunt face poking out the ragged travel coat.
“Great, now dark magic portals are throwing dead corpses in our yard.” He comments sombrely.
“Uuuuh, Mister Hero? I don’t think it’s a dead corpse…”
