Summary
Steve had thought that the hardest part of dating an Avenger would be dealing with dangerous missions, and they certainly weren't easy. Steve had to manage their shared life while factoring in his many health issues and neuroses and also his boyfriend's hazardous job and his PTSD as a result of being the Winter Soldier.
However, none of that was as hard as actually going to the Avengers Tower for their annual Christmas party and meeting Bucky's teammates. What will they think of Steve, skinny and sickly? Steve didn’t know whether to laugh or just slink away. He managed to combine the two by pacing two steps and snorting instead. Like a bull.
“I’m gonna need you to calm your ass, Barnes,” Sam said as he went limp again, obstructing Barnes’s struggling under him. “This is so undignified. That is Captain goddamn America.”

Steve cleared his throat again. “I’ve been looking for you,” he told Barnes.

Barnes's co-workers are surprised when Steve Rogers, short and skinny and bespectacled, shows up at the Avengers compound to take him home when he gets injured jumping off of an exploding building.
