“I haven’t kept track in a while,” Joe admits after a pause, and Langa frowns. Wasn’t this the sort of thing people usually kept track of? “But at least 20 years,” he continues easily, even when Langa’s mouth drops open. “Since kindergarten, I know.”
Langa stares at him, shellshocked. “You’ve been dating Cherry since you were five years old?”
Joe’s eyebrows furrow. “What?” His eyes widen. “Oh, you meant. Together together.” He laughs awkwardly. “Langa, we’re not actually—Kaoru and I aren’t dating.”
Langa stares at him some more, somehow even more shellshocked at this new piece of information. “What?”

“What’s that ring Cherry’s wearing?” he asked.
Joe hesitated before answering. “It’s his wedding ring.”
“No way!” Reki grinned up at Joe. “I didn’t know you guys were married. Congratulations!”
“Whoa, what?” Joe stammered. “You’ve got the wrong idea, kiddo. I’m not married. Cherry isn’t married to me.”
Reki’s face fell. “Oh? Sorry, I just assumed because you guys are always together and you argue like an old married couple. Then who’s his husband, and why have we never met him?”
“His wife is a lawyer,” Joe said deliberately. “Her name is Akiko. She doesn’t skate.”

“Surprise!” Reki said. “We’re here to celebrate your birthday!”
“Absolutely not.”
“C’mon, pinky, don’t be a downer,” Kojiro teased.
“It’s my vacation, I’ll do as I please,” Kaoru said, sticking his nose up at him. His haughtiness was somewhat undermined by the fact that he was now letting Miya hang off his arm as he did so often, like the little brother Kaoru never had. He would never admit it, but he did have a soft spot for him. (Okay, maybe he had a soft spot for them all, despite everything.)

Kojiro grips the edge of his worktable firmly but otherwise makes no move to stand or perceive his cousin in any pitiable way. This is a delicate matter. Miya might show himself to be cocky and indifferent, but Kojiro knows he’s far from the nonchalant boy he boasts he is.

“Who’s Sakura-sama?” Kojiro gently pries.

When Ed broke the belt chain off of his pocket watch to slam it into the ground, Roy thought they were going to get into a physical altercation. Roy remembers what he said then with disturbing clarity as Ed slammed their shoulders together: You’re better than what they make of you.
“After what you saw,” Roy decides finally.
Ed’s face is unreadable as he watches Roy. Then, after a while of no one saying anything, Ed explains himself with: “You make my heart hurt.”
After Ed defected from Ishval, Roy finds him again at Fort Briggs.

The blindfold covering most of the Jöt’s face was removed, kohl lined crimson eyes of a very familiar shape rolled back and shone with tears. Ymir’s crown graced his forehead; the well-known housemark of Jötunheimr's royalty.

It’s not the first time they’ve danced in Sia la Luce, nor will it be the last, but Kaoru’s eyes will burn with the thought that this has been theirs, will keep being theirs, and is theirs: this way that they can hold each other, erase the space between them, and the world is just this song, their swaying, and their careful breathing.

2) four sneezes means that someone is probably literally going to die, which, okay, that’s pretty worrying for an Ed-related premonition. But then:
3) the phone rings. The Craft phone, not Al’s cell phone or the home line, and there are quite a few people who have the Craft number but all of them know to only call that number if someone needs immediate assistance because they’re literally on death’s door.He answers on the second ring: “Hello?”
“I need help.”

After Ed sees Al’s body at The Gate, his relationship with food spirals as he tries to eat as much as possible to make up for the malnutrition Al is experiencing. He has to eat for both of them now. This has the unfortunate side effect that when he is traveling with Darius, Heinkel and Greed, his companions come to the conclusion that Ed is pregnant, which makes the whole being a fugitive and end of the world as we know it thing extra stressful for them.
