You're not stupid. You can see the way stardust has been acting lately. How he lights up just a little more when he sees you under the tree, starts walking just a little faster, how their smile gets just a little more real. The way he ducks his head to hide in the collar of their cloak when you call them stardust, as if it’s a sweet pet name and not an inside joke for an audience of one. The light dusting of blush that rises to his face when you say something that implies you might care about him, even just a tiny bit.
You really should try and discourage their feelings. They'll fade eventually anyway, and it'll be easier for both of you if you just. Make him stop liking you, rather than waiting for it to happen on its own.
You can manage that, right? How hard could it be?

Yes?? Obviously?? Isabeau stares at Siffrin, then glances at Odile. The older woman looks just as baffled as Isabeau feels.
"You're part of the team," Odile says slowly. "I know we haven't exactly run into any Sadnesses on the road thus far, but..."
Siffrin brightens. "Oh, that's because I've been killing them when I scout ahead," they say easily. "I figured it would save time, so..."
The small fellow trails off when he notices Isabeau and Odile's mounting confusion. "Didn't I tell you about that?" Siffrin says.
"You certainly did not," Odile replies.
The gang decides to resume their sparring sessions. After a few weeks on the road, and quite a bit of recovery, Odile thinks they're ready. When Siffrin skips out, Isabeau and Odile find out why.

“It’ll lead right into a July funeral, I suspect,” Alastor laughed, slapping his hand on the bar. “No wonder you’re so interested in releasing him from his contract. If Valentino heard there was someone who loved his prized star, why he would be absolutely livid.”
The cackle was unnecessary and Husk said as much, glowering. When that failed to shut him up, he waited until there was a lull and hissed, “Ya done?”
There was a pause, a ‘no,’ and then another chorus of maniacal laughter that sent Pentious, who had come into the parlor for something, slithering away with nothing more than an eep and an apology.
