Summary
It starts with Dick, and is only worsened by the death of the girl Damian was supposed to save. He is falling behind in school, he's been benched, and his family is unrelenting in their insistence - concern - that something is wrong. Damian is failing and there is only one way to fix this. He just needs to find the man that killed the girl. The one that he let get away. He can fix this. He'll prove that he isn't broken.
But he's not the only one hunting this criminal.
It would have gone perfectly. If the Executioner didn't get him first.

“I mean… yeah, let’s go with that in case this ends up on the news,” Siren shrugged, looking back at Tommy. “I kidnapped you, right?”
“Yeah, sure,” Tommy agreed, knowing that if they said he was kidnapped, it would keep people from getting suspicious of why he was seen in public with Siren. “Anyway, can I get the chicken nuggets happy meal, with a coke?”

It seems that life truly has become a joke at this point. With the sun radiating the air like it has one mission: to eliminate all life. Ironic, isn't it. And the most fucked up part? No one cares. It’s too hot outside? Fuck you. You still gotta earn a living.
Which is how Yesenin finds himself stuck inside the bar he works at in the daylight sun. Two barely working fans being the only sources of coolness that hardly bless his face. How unfortunate.
At least he isn't stuck alone.

"You can open your eyes now, lovebug," Wilbur declared, planting a quick kiss on Tommy's forehead.
"Mm, no," the little whined playfully.
"No?" Wilbur feigned shock.
"'M s'eepy."
"Time for bed?"
Tommy just hummed, letting his arms find their way around his dada's neck and his chin to his shoulder. When he knew Wilbur couldn't see, he opened his eyes, just for the heck of it. He grinned at his silly antics.
"What's so funny, mister?" Wilbur asked, tone alight with his own smile as he rubbed the little's back, "I can feel you grinning back there."
Tommy giggled, tucking his thumb into his mouth on instinct. "Nuffin'."
In which Tommy finally decides to leave his abusive family and goes to stay with his pseudo-brother, Wilbur. Amidst the chaos of his life, Tommy finds calm, and slowly, he learns how he can heal from his past.

Wilbur hummed soothingly, grabbing Tommy’s cup of water with as much strain as he could on his muscles and pulling Tommy’s chin up, the boy’s face covered in tears and cheeks red. He hummed softly, placing a cup of water against his lips to help stop his hiccups and keep him hydrated. After a few sips had been swallowed, he put the cup away, holding the kid.
“What happened?”
“There- there were some kids.” Tommy sobbed, “They were- r-really mean.”
“Yeah?” Wilbur pressed softly. “What’d they say to you, sunshine?”
“Said you’d get bored like everyone else and change my purpose to a punching bag... and then I wouldn’t even be good enough for that, so then you’d finally leave... cause I’m a stupid foster kid with no mommy...” Tommy whispered, quietly, lip trembling again like when he was about to cry. He didn’t even know if they were wrong or not, and that’s what was most heartbreaking.
7 year old Tommy gets bullied at school, comes home to dadbur, gets comforted by his foster dad before they have a conversation about depression.

After having a pretty shit day at school, Tommy finds himself slipping - which would be fine if he wasn’t still in the middle of his class. But controlling his headspace isn’t always easy, and now he has to pretend to be big.
Unfortunately, things don’t go as planned.But also: Five times Wilbur uses Animal Crossing to help his little brother regress, plus one time he doesn’t have to.
As well as: Bruises appear on Tommy's skin, and he waves them off as clumsiness. He flinches at any loud noise, and he laughs it off and says he just gets startled easily. His parents get mentioned in chat, and he freezes for a moment, just a moment.
But it's fine. He's fine.
Until he spends a week at Wilbur's house and his facade quickly starts to crumble.And finally: Tommy used to trust Wilbur, he thinks. Once, a long time ago. He doesn’t anymore, not after Wilbur was revived, constantly smelling like smoke, lies dripping from his mouth like poison -
