Charlie unceremonially plops himself down onto the gravel shore and begins removing his shoes.
“Charlie?” Pim breaches.
“You ever been skinny dipping, dude? Because it’s like--it's good for you. Good for your spirit. Yeah, it’s--”
“Um.”
“No, listen--it’s natural. It’s like our natural state. Like--”
“I don’t think that’s a good idea, Charlie”
“Like our ancestors did this shit, like, all the time, dude.” By this point, Charlie has managed to get his socks and shoes off. He starts moving to remove his sweatshirt and a spike of anxiety shoots through Pim’s chest.
“Not while they were drunk, probably. Are you even a good swimmer?”
Charlie manages to get his sweatshirt over his head and flings it off to the side. He twists back towards Pim and turns his face up, up towards him, like a flower turns towards the sun.
“Are you?”

Summary
Charlie's been out of a job for a while now, and things are getting kind of dire. If he doesn't find one soon, then how will he keep his apartment, and what will become of his life? Luckily, he sees that a new place relatively close to his house is hiring -- and even if it really doesn't sound like his style, he needs money. He doesn't have any other options.
But when he begins working there, he unexpectedly finds himself enjoying it -- even if it did take a few months to truly settle in. It's especially easier to adjust because of the critters he works with, who, for the first time he can ever recall, he actually enjoys the company of.
... Hm. Maybe working here won't be so bad after all.

The thing is, Tommy, can’t remember how he got stuck down here. He thinks he’s a ghost? At least that's what he’s heard people say when he tried to talk or touch them, others said “it was just the wind.” If he was a ghost, he didn’t remember how he died, maybe he was pushed onto the train tracks by someone? He saw that happen once. Or did he jump himself? He’s seen thousands of people do that in his time there.

Tommy had been a blood bag for vampires all his life. He was trained. An expert, one could say. He knew to only speak when spoken to, always to do as he was commanded, never to defend himself, never to run, never to show his pain.
He could be perfect. A perfect blood bag.
But when the Angel of Death showed interest in him, he faced challenges he'd never thought he'd encounter.Or: Phil would normally never buy a living blood bag but strange times asked for unusual solutions. And he did intent to set him free as soon as possible and offer him a good life in one of his citys in the Antarctic empire. Why he ended up choosing this scared looking teenager was another question. Maybe following his originally plan would prove to be harder than he thought. Maybe his kids would love to have another brother.
Or: Tommy is terrified, Phil gets attached - as he does. And things get better.
Dark SBI, especially in the beginning - but Phil is a softy for fatherless kids - even if they're TECHNICALLY just a means to survival.

It’s not even the matter of clashing sleep schedules, Phil’s never had an issue with that. Vampires can be quiet when need be. But nothing in the world can change the fact they’re dead in the heart, and cold to the touch, and absolutely fucking insufferable in sticking their freezing hands up his sleeves, as if he’s their personal hand-warmer.
One of these days, he’s just going to put a cross on the door and let them stay cold out on the hallway floor.

Summary
Tommy had suffered on and off throughout his life from hanahaki, which sort of happens to someone who trusts too much and always gets their hopes crushed. He just wants someone to actually care about him, but he knows he's not going to get that, especially not with Dream and not with how the disease has been getting worse.
Dying and defeated, Tommy's only solace comes in the form of weird eldritch singing emanating from the forest outside his window. He knows that whatever it is will likely be a cannibalistic cryptid from his worst nightmares, but somehow he can't find it in himself to care. Any death will be better than suffocating alone.
Or
Tommy is on a quest to get killed by unknown monsters instead of the ones he does know. This is somehow more difficult than it should be.

Wilbur’s breathing hitched as he looked into the pale eyes of the dead boy. Unlike before, his lips were no longer blue, and there was no more seaweed stuck in his blonde curls. He was sitting up now, the waves soaking the bottom of his pants as he sat on the sand across from Wilbur.
“You-”
“I’m not dead, Wil,” the boy said, the words tumbling out of him in a rush. “I’m not dead, don’t fucking listen to them when they say I’m dead because I’m not. You know I’m not!”
“I-I saw your body,” Wilbur stammered, unsure of how the dead boy knew his name.
“It’s not me! I don’t know what the fuck that thing was, but I’m not dead! You can feel it, can’t you?” The boy pleaded, his voice cracking as he started crawling on the sand towards Wilbur. “You have to save me, Wil. Please, you need to get me out of here!”
