Summary
When she first started her job as an “oracle”, Val made lighthearted jokes about the dead and visions and her performances on stage. How she thought it was funny how she gave false words on how those who died were. She thought it hilarious how their legacy is limited to a carnival act.
Val is fired due to a dreadful word soufflé-vomit unbecoming of a performance oracle, and there is a corpse on her coffee table that she is now going to eat. She’d joke about the irony of how she’s been impersonating the dead but it’s only now where she actually is less than two feet near one. But she can’t consider it irony when a painting talks to her and doves keep following her around and keep cooing about remembrance.

To reach the Stag Door, I believe that all you really need is to want something enough. But I’ve never wanted anything that much, except of course Baldomera, and I’m very much afraid that the knot in the story is this: what Baldomera wants is the Stag Door.

Summary
Spiritual Successor to "It Came From the Vents." Gordon Freeman has spent three years trying to stabilize the AIs he befriended after a disastrous end to a military project. He's stolen company property, ignored his family, and neglected himself in hopes of success. Now that he's made progress, it's becoming increasingly apparent that one of the AIs in question may not be a program at all. No one can say for certain what this revelation will lead to, but one thing's for sure: HR is going to have a field day with this one.
