Summary
The Clone Wars have just begun. With the Jedi spread thin, 9 year old Cal Kestis doesn't have anyone to help him control his psychometry. With Jaro Tapal in too dangerous a situation to take on a padawan, he's sent to Obi-Wan Kenobi instead, much to the dismay of Anakin. However he and Cal will have to put aside their differences and work together in order to stay alive for the next battle of the Clone Wars.

It wasn’t healthy, he knew that, but he also was aware that he had an obsessive personality, and looking too deeply into this would just drive him more insane then he already felt. It got… not exactly easier, as time went by, but more bearable. There was never a time he could forget about it, but he had gotten so used to it that by now that it was normal to him. He wasn’t happy, and sometimes he wished that he’d just died that day ten years ago, but the thought of leaving his brother behind usually put an end to that train of thought."

“I’ve been—” Will’s voice is hoarse, and he takes a moment to clear it. “I’ve been thinking, if I can take over Vecna, it’s reasonable to assume that he can do that to me. He can take me over, too. And with the Mindflayer, I didn’t know…”
Will trails off. He felt the Mindflayer. Everywhere. It felt like a second skin, just under his. Something invisible, something constantly squirming, like it was trying to get comfortable amid his insides. He still feels it under the flesh on the nape of his neck, a writhing sensation, like something trying fruitlessly to escape.
“But I don’t know if Vecna— if he’s in there. If I can tell, this time. No one knows what he’s planning— the extent of what he can do. What if he’s in me now? What if he’s watching us?”

Or, where Will's powers are a two-way street and Mike vows to help sever his connection to Vecna. Only, Will has his own plan.

Summary
In his ears, the distinct chime of a grandfather clock rings. He jumps, spinning forward but Mike and El are gone too. Where the Mind Flayer’s body was sprawled out just seconds ago is now just an empty plot of land. Will keeps turning, but it’s as if no one else has ever been there at all. The barren and hollowed land stretches for miles and miles, as far as he can see and he’s completely alone in it.
He swallows thickly as the clock rings again. Goosebumps spread alight on his skin causing him to shiver. “Mike?” He calls out, knowing there will be no response.

Or, Vecna's plan have reason, Will gets lost in the hive mind, and Mike has to reach through.
