    Summary

Suddenly it’s all about Seojun’s waist, Seojun’s hands clutching onto his shoulders, Seojun’s weight on his arm, Seojun’s incredulous expression; generally being in Seojun’s personal bubble without being punched. He’s literally woken up in a cold sweat about this. He finds himself thinking about it and struggles to concentrate afterwards. This has real-life adverse effects and the only cure is crushing Han Seojun into a massive hug.

He’s held Jugyeong’s hand before. He’s hugged Sujin on rare occasions because that girl is equally as emotionally constipated and touch-starved as he is. And yes, he wants to keep doing those things, but more so in the vein of friends being close, not I want him pressed onto me all the time forever.

    Summary

He nearly drops the folder. Phainon reaches out for his hand and he slaps it away.

“I’m not accepting this,” he stands up abruptly, trying hard not to look at Phainon’s wounded puppy expression. “I can’t. You bought me? For only a little more than half a million?”

    Summary

Here is ▇▇▇▇▇▇▇▇, at the bottom of Amphoreus. He has sealed Irontomb away in an attempt to stop its completion, and now must bear the world in its stead. This world will not be held on the foundation of Destruction. Not if he’s still alive.

He has expanded himself, become everything and nothing, the scrape of nails against the false sky to the flickering flame in the abyss below. He can’t feel any part of his own body anymore. It’s as though he’s retreated to the center of that empty cavity he called a chest, curled tightly into himself. His eyes have long since been destroyed, and he can just barely make out the luminescence of the heat that still emanates from his body. There is only the weight.

    Summary

“Cipher,” comes Phainon’s muffled voice somewhere to her right. “Ciiipher.”

Fuck. She had hoped that he was sufficiently quelled the last time, but the deliverer boy bounced back quicker than she thought. Though honestly, she should’ve seen this coming.

“Cipher.” There was banging on the wall, now. “This is important, I swear.”

“I’m not doing this again,” she shouts. “I won’t. Not since you dropped that stone bust of the little prince on my floor. I told you not to do it, and you did it anyway and now you won’t even take him back because you’re worried he’ll break even more, and I don’t have a trash can or a hammer or a void to throw it into.”

or: Cipher is trapped between Phainon and Mydei on the 3.7 banner and has to act as the middleman. Someone get her out.

    Summary

On the first night of the first page of the epilogue, they stay close.

There is something about being made near-real, peeling yourself out from lines of pre-written code and basking in the light of a proper moon, that has Phainon reeling like nothing else before. They’re up on the roof of Mydei’s dwelling, watching the stars shine to life with everyone else far below. Somewhere, the triplets, their siblings, and their mother are building a rocket to take them there. A scholar charts them on a map, a weaver pulls them down into cloth. A thief flips a coin and holds it up to the moon, planning the heist of a lifetime. The healer, who previously reigned over the skies, watches quietly with a girl in a butterfly dress. The imperator and her knight look further towards the budding galaxies.

The warrior-prince and the man who was once the embodiment of hatred sit next to each other. There is still a distance between them, born of awkwardness. The burden of duty has finally been lifted and it’s like they’re looking at each other for the first time again.

    Summary

As the headless body of Irontomb shatters, Khaslana falls with it. Captured in a small window of time, somewhere in between the pages of Irontomb’s defeat and the ending, he drifts aimlessly in the space between. His porcelain wings fracture and crumble; the searing beneath his skin subsides. The Destruction chips off of him in tiny, glittering pieces like stars, crackling into nothingness, leaving Phainon raw and aching, eyes shut tight. 33 million cycles turned to dust.

Time stutters and starts, the past is muddled with the present, and Cyrene floats with him, parting through the layers as she reaches out to touch his shoulder.

“Sleeping now that the job is done?” she asks fondly, quietly. “You deserve it, of course, but there will be time for that later. I’d like to speak to you first.”

    Summary

“You’ll be going back to the orphanage, after this,” Akutagawa says quietly.

He lays it out objectively like a deck of cards, faces staring up at Atsushi and into the distance of the inevitable future. It’s so matter-of-factly that he almost misses the indigence churning beneath those words, because Akutagawa is a storm sealed and sometimes he lets things slip, howling winds and cracks of lightning, even if he doesn’t mean to.

Or: summer camp is ending, and Atsushi is anxious.

    Summary

Mydei sleeps like a soldier, stiff and unyielding even at his most vulnerable state. He lies on his back, arms tucked against his sides, legs spread a little more than shoulder width apart. His blankets are sparse and only cover his stomach. His clothes are thin. His head rests upon a single, worn-out pillow.

His bedroom door is slightly ajar, allowing a crack of light to pierce through the darkened room and fall upon his face, but he doesn’t stir. Khaslana looms above him, eyes the color of molten gold, and he doesn’t seem to notice that either.

Or: Khaslana spends one last night with Mydei.

    Summary

Everyone there had the privilege, the freedom, of death. Mizi either died in the blast or crawled out of the ruins to waste away elsewhere. Till, the unlikely survivor, has ventured off into parts unknown.
    But he’s still here.
Luka’s face is still illuminated on the billboards. His voice still echoes over an unchanging skyline. His image, his brand, will exist forever and ever on the infinite screens until he fades into oblivion. It’s like nothing’s ever changed.

    Or: Luka survives.

    Summary

God. He blinks again. Yes, God, tried-and-true, floating above the city walls with the moon up high to brush stardust and reveal truth over his cape flapping in the sudden wind. Radiant with archaic power, a sudden sadness in his eyes through which Dahlia could see dynasties toppling and rebellion surging to fill the gaps, the terraforming of the earth to fit human civilization in your palm, and centuries of dormancy that God - Venti - hasn’t yet managed to shake off. The Anemo Archon, in flesh. In spirit. Not beholden to words, not encased in scripture.

Or: Venti is Barbatos. Dahlia reflects on that the morning after.

    Summary

There is something about burying a part of yourself that has Hailey paranoid. Michelle was murdered - stabbed by scalpels, blown up by injections until she burst - and her remains are stuck six-feet-deep in cemetery soil in front of an unmarked grave. In the simplest of terms and of truths, Michelle is dead. And in her place Hailey has sprouted like a flower, sucking nutrients from her mangled body in order to bloom.

Or: Michelle watches. Hailey pretends like she doesn't want Sue.
