Stede notices him right away—or, rather, he notices how handsome the man is, the way anybody does when they see someone they think is attractive. Which is to say, he doesn’t do a double take, but it’s a close approximation, and his eyes, drawn against his best judgment, keep finding their way back to the man for just one more look, just to see if he’s as beautiful as Stede’s quick glances said he was.
