Summary
“You’re fucking hurt and you still tried to help me.” Lo’ak finally met his brother’s eyes. “You shouldn’t have done that.”
Neteyam’s face softened, and he reached out to grip both of his shoulders. “That was my decision. Just like everything else was my decision. You don’t get to carry that.”
But in fact Lo’ak was carrying it. He felt the weight of it with every breath. The guilt that had been building since the ship, since the bullet, since the moment he’d pulled Neteyam from the water and felt his brother’s blood warm between his fingers.
OR
Neteyam survives the shot, but Jake still looks at his other son as if it’s his fault. Lo’ak doesn’t survive that he was the reason it happened, and the rifle does its job. He dies.

Summary
Electricity ripples through his side, and pain explodes in his body. He collapses onto his stomach, shoulder slamming onto the harsh metal first. He doesn’t register the pain… because it’s nothing compared to the sight below him.
His eyes lock onto the water, seeing Neteyam sink below the water. The once clear blue colour quickly turns red, blocking his field of vision.
“Neteyam!” Lo’ak tries one last time, scrambling to get up but all he gets is the same rod being jammed into his side. He yells, the sound ripped out of him when electricity courses through his body. He’s roughly grabbed by his kuru again, pulling him up. Pain explodes in his brain, but all he can think about is his brother.
Or: Neteyam survives getting shot, but Lo'ak is captured by the RDA

Summary
After Aonung abandoned Lo'ak beyond the reef, Payakan wasn't fast enough to save him. Left to fend for himself in the vast ocean of the eastern sea, Lo'ak cannot protect himself like he believed he could which lead to almost losing his own life, leaving him permanently disabled and more alike with Jake than either would like to admit.

A rewrite and continuation of my old fanfic 'Perish'. I changed most of the plot and I hope my writing improved over the course of three years. Tags will update as the fic goes on and will include AFAA in later chapters I swear

Summary
Lo’ak’s eyes lift. “Promise?”
Jake lifts his pinky. “Pinky promise.”
Lo’ak’s smaller pinky wraps around it, serious as anything.
“See?” Jake says softly. “That’s another thing others can’t do—but we can. And pinky promises never break.”
Lo’ak nods solemnly. “Ever?”
Jake squeezes his finger gently. “Ever.”

Jake Sully loves his son. He just doesn’t always understand him.
Told primarily through Jake’s POV before, during, and after The Way of Water, this fic explores Lo’ak’s childhood, rebellion, and the cost of silence, carrying its consequences forward into Fire and Ash, where love, guilt, and survival are anything but simple.
