"LOVE-LETTER-FOR-YOU.txt.vbs" was one of the most destructive computer worms ever to have been released onto the internet. It was able to rapidly proliferate by hijacking its victims' email programs, sending copies of itself to everyone in their address books, concealed inside spam emails.
In other words, Spamton's come down with an intestinal parasite, and he doesn't appreciate its opinions on his love life.

Next was an older, proud-looking steamer with his arm wrapped around a sleeping car’s waist – that would be Poppa and Memphis Belle; Dinah recalled seeing a picture of them with a baby Lumber hanging in the freight shed’s living room. Then came the three Rockies and Ashley and Buffy, each of whom she had met once or twice in passing on previous visits. And then at the other far end was Di, bright and warm and lovely as ever, and just to her right, his arm wrapped around her shoulders, was a caboose.

Screeching metal stopped her in her tracks. The grunt of pain that accompanied the collision was undoubtedly Greaseball’s, she’d recognise it anywhere. Electra’s high-pitched shriek followed. Crashes were normal, Dinah still thought, her priority still with trying to find where Pearl had run away to. Both engines had a reputation for complaining, they’d be fine.
It was only when Momma started shouting that Dinah looked around. Flashbacks of the first final spun through her mind like a horror-scape of rising flames; this wasn’t a normal crash. She had to get Greaseball out of there.

Summary
Proud of her own working form as she was, Momma knew it wasn’t ideal, having Rusty meld with a steam engine. Control had him set to be a shunter, so he wouldn’t be traveling beyond the yard much, if at all, unless he took up racing (and he did often talk about wanting to race). But she’d still held off as long as she could - both to see if another option presented itself (a long shot), and to see how far the refurbishments to the steam engine got. It wasn’t a perfect option, and funds were tight for the yard. Some parts worked, technically, but were rusted, not yet replaced or cleaned up before it became clear that Rusty would have to meld sooner rather than later. Rusty had taken it in stride, joked that his name would suit him now.

She had been sleeping too long. She wasn't even sure if sleep was the right word for it. Even once she was awake, she'd waited. She knew she had to wait, until she had stopped, until the others, the humans, were out of her. Even then, she waited, until the sky was dark and the stars bright, and the yard was quiet.
It was easier than she expected. In a moment she was away from her train. She stared up at the car that was her and wasn't her, so much larger than her now. It seemed just slightly off from how it ought to be, like it was waiting for her to join with it again. But she wouldn't. Not just yet.
