In lieu of Armand’s reply, he heard a heart-wretching sound, like a beast ripped open, like a hammer through Daniel’s chest. “Armand” tumbled out of his mouth like a paper cut, his body plunged in ice water.
Daniel found him in his little art studio where he had left him, not a cloud in his happy little head, and now he was clawing at his face as he sobbed, surrounded by scattered remains of his night, bits of paper, corpses of coloured pencils, as the floor soaked up broken bottles of turpentine.
