Summary
The Doctor has landed in an authoritarian empire—and, naturally, they’ve antagonized its Queen. So, in a moment of panic and inspiration, they challenged her—or rather, her champion—to a fight to the death, with the fate of a planet hanging in the balance.
The Doctor’s going to win, of course. They’re just not quite sure they want to.

Summary
The Doctor faced the Daleks many times long before the Time War, before destroying Skaro, before the Doctor had done a great many of the things that made them so feared in Dalek legend.
The legends already existed, though. That's the thing about time travel.

Summary
In most timelines, the Doctor briefly succumbs to the urge to control time itself in a moment of desperation, only to stop themself moments later when they realize their actions have unintended consequences. In some timelines, though, the Doctor is not deterred, and carries right on trying to control the universe in a bid to save it until they are assassinated by a citizen who sees them as a tyrant.
In this timeline, the attempt to kill them doesn't take. The Doctor has always controlled reality, and they always will. Which is for the best, because who else could put a stop to every threat to life that has ever existed? Who else could keep us safe? Relax, dear reader. The universe is in good hands.

Summary
They'd been getting on well enough lately—as well as they ever had since before the Master had been left behind on Gallifrey, at any rate. The Master was being very nice, if he did say so himself, which is to say he'd kept his more cutting jabs at the Doctor to himself and even made the occasional concession to their ridiculous, sanctimonious insistence on not murdering anyone. They'd even started to trust each other—not deeply, not after millennia of fighting and manipulating and betraying each other—but enough to go on an adventure together. Enough that the Master had stepped into the Doctor's TARDIS willingly and without the intention of taking it over. (He had no qualms about taking control of the TARDIS should the need arise, of course, but the fact that it wasn't Plan A was saying something.)
Really, they both should have known it was never going to last.

Summary
Shut in the Pandorica, the Doctor is left alone with nothing but their thoughts, and all they can think of is the fact that the entire universe is ending, and it's their fault, and they can't fix it because they've just been put in a prison said to contain the most feared being in the universe.
