Summary
Byakuya Ishigami is assigned to a remote town abroad to participate in the Deus Ex Medusa Research Project, that aims to unveil the mystery behind a cancelled project decades ago, only leaving behind an engine of the same name.
The center hosting it also happens to be... infamous for some of the wildest rumors of paranormal activity, rendering the job position jinxed; a fact that only fuels the scientist's penchant for an interesting story, one he's determined to dilucidate as several of his procedures suffer a series of inexplicable sabotages.
Thanks to a secret psychic intervention he carries out, he finds the source. It's the ghost of a distinguished former member of the project, going by the moniker of "Dr. X", who turns out to have no positive opinions of it. Byakuya decides to listen to his side of the story, but with some mutual conditions in place: he must not reveal the ghost's existence, for his word has been deemed forbidden among the living - and the ghost, in return, will stop the sabotages.
This is how our jolly scientist meets more than he bargained for: a story of missing pieces, bygone promises and a longing frozen in time, about to make its way in the present.

Xeno nods approvingly at whatever he sees. “Not unlike you and Senku.”
Gen nearly chokes on his own spit.
The Kingdom of Science has certain assumptions regarding Xeno and Stanley's relationship. Too bad they've vastly overestimated the emotional intelligence of one Xeno Houston Wingfield.
