Slightly just nods a bit, the action sending her curls into motion; Nibs doesn’t meet her eyes, just stares straight past her at the wall. She doesn’t judge him for it; his best friend is dead, and it’s almost her fault.
“Fine,” she says at last. “Fine, I’ll tell you a story. But we have to get one thing straight first, Papa, and it’s that you didn’t save me when you took me back. You didn’t save us, you damned us. All of us. But if you want a story, then it’s a story you’ll get."
She pauses, glances back at her friends, at the not-so-empty jail cell behind them, one last time, before she says, "Peter wasn't always Pan."
