He leans in and puts an arm around his friend like he’s done a thousand times, in celebration or commiseration. But this time, Pippo tenses beneath him and Jonathan freezes for a moment.
Jonathan can't stop thinking about Pippo acting weird when Jonathan touched him after his win. So he goes and confronts him about it and things take an unexpected turn.

Carlos couldn’t help but chuckle fondly, this was just so Lando.
“Ay Lando, it’s fine. Whatever he thought, I knew what I was doing. It’s his loss, and he should know that there are people who appreciate you as he should have,” Carlos told him, and it was the truth. Carlos knew exactly what he did, it was fine. More than that.
“Thank you,” Lando all but whispered, and Carlos hugged him a little tighter. And it was only then that Carlos realized that he still held Lando close to his side, it simply felt way too natural.Or: The one where Lando's boyfriend doesn't show up for his birthday, on the day Lando wanted him to meet his parents. Carlos being the good friend he always is and makes it his mission to help Lando get over it and cheer him up. Any maybe it binds them together even more.

Right now the greater part of the crowd was on its way to the courtyard where the fireworks would be started soon.'
