Just me and saints looking at me with these big eyes.” He huffed a breath at himself. “I did not know what to say, so I just… sat. Sometimes I would say, ‘Okay, if someone is up there, if there is anything, I need help. I need something that is not pain all the time.’” He looked at Shane then, eyes very green in the low light. “And then, some time later, there was you.”
