After the Eclipse Cannon, Sonic was sure he would never see Shadow again. After all, who could survive such an explosion?
However during a run-in with G.U.N., said black hedgehog swooped in to save the day, saving Sonic in the process. While he was surprised to see Shadow alive, Sonic was thrown into panic as Shadow's life was now at risk. Does he have enough time to save Shadow from the bullets he took for him? Or was there something else?
Why else would Shadow risk his life for him?

The last words stung far more than the blue hedgehog ever would’ve liked. “I…I’m sorry.”

I read the whole 20 chapters in about... 2-3 days? Idk how long it took I was that focused on this fic. Intriguing worldbuilding and character arcs! Increasing stakes! And... love! The way the multiship played out was a pleasant surprise. Excellently written fic this is.
