AKA: After a mission goes wrong, Jason is left bloody, concussed, and pissed. Unfortunately for him, Bruce is just trying to keep Jason alive, which would probably be easier if Jason wasn't ready to strangle him.

A thief flips a coin and holds it up to the moon, planning the heist of a lifetime. The healer, who previously reigned over the skies, watches quietly with a girl in a butterfly dress. The imperator and her knight look further towards the budding galaxies.
The warrior-prince and the man who was once the embodiment of hatred sit next to each other. There is still a distance between them, born of awkwardness. The burden of duty has finally been lifted and it’s like they’re looking at each other for the first time again.

“They’ll want proof when we get back to Gotham that we were in California! I’m protecting our secret identities, so really you should be thanking me for my great ideas, B!” Jason had smiled, all teeth, from where he was perched on Batman’s shoulder. “Otherwise, I can go back with a cold! The ocean here is way too freezing.”
Bruce remembers laughing, one hand keeping a firm grip on Jason’s thighs, where they’d been draped over his right shoulder after a job well down, and his other reaching up high to ruffle Jason’s hair,
When they’d gotten home, Jason, with his little glass collection, had meticulously layered it all into another glass bottle. It sits on the window sill in his room, and when, at certain parts of the day when the sunlight hits just so, Jason’s room would be cast in a myriad of soft rainbows. Jason’s favorite was sunset when the sky’s glow would mix with the glass shards.

It had been a long time since the bat signal called Jason. A long time since that particular beacon had anything to do with him. He stuck to his streets. Dealt with Black Mask and Penguin and Two-Face when it suited him.
Jason perched on rooftops and fire escapes and kept his eyes on the ground. He listened to police scanners and hacked into the Bats' comms.
He didn't look up.
He remembered it, though. The rush of adrenaline when he'd spot the bat illuminated in the sky. As Robin, it meant an adventure was to be had. It meant purpose. Magic.

"—and how is that even POSSIBLE?" He recognized the voice immediately. Tim. And he sounded... not good.
Jason should have left. Should have just aborted the mission and come back another time when Tim wasn't around. That was the smart play. The tactical play. But curiosity was a bitch, and Jason found himself moving toward the sound instead of away from it. He peered around the doorframe and saw Tim in his office, pacing like a caged animal with at least five empty coffee cups scattered across his desk. The kid looked like he hadn't slept in a week. Maybe longer.
