Summary
Megumi Fushiguro never dreamed of becoming a hero; he couldn’t stand heroes who only sought fame, and the mediocre idea that they could “save everyone” disgusted him. He didn’t consider himself pessimistic despite this; he just believed that in order to help someone, you first have to accept reality. At the end of the day, efficiency matters more than feelings.
But Megumi did have dreams—dreams of people he regretted leaving behind, dreams that filled him with nostalgia and guilt; he dreamed of people he didn’t know, yet it seemed they knew who he was. Sometimes, he dreamed of losing everything, feeling utterly alone while guilt consumed him. These dreams always left him with the regret of not having saved his own—he didn’t even know them—the regret of not having helped the “good” people.
Megumi never dreamed of being a hero; a hero shouldn’t have to choose who to save, a hero shouldn’t be as selfish as Megumi is. But he has a quirk—one that’s very powerful—and he wants to change the regrets these dreams bring him.
Megumi wasn’t born to be a hero, and he never will be, but that doesn’t mean he won’t try.

Summary
