Summary
"Dream a little dream of me..."

“... Has anyone ever told you about Lonnie?” Will angles her wrist gently, running his violet marker through the middle “1” on El’s skin and across the “0”. He flicks his eyes briefly back to hers and finds confusion in them. She shakes her head.
Will hums, trying to even out his breathing and finishing a vague outline of a lily. It makes sense. Will barely likes talking about Lonnie. He can’t imagine it’s any easier for anyone else.
But… El is family now. They haven’t known each other very long, and most days it feels like she’s more Mike’s friend than Will’s, but she’s his sister.
Will’s sister, who’s sick of looking into a mirror and recognizing the monster that stares back.
He could resonate with that, Will thinks.

It’s rare for Will to pick up a call from home without his mom greeting him first, and his mind sprints to a thousand terrible scenarios in the second it takes him to say, “Hey,” back.
“Your mom’s fine, everyone’s fine,” Hop says, like he can read his mind. “I’ve got to talk to you about something tough, though.”
Will furrows his brow. “Okay.”
Mike pauses in the doorway, raising an eyebrow, and Will mouths Hop at him. He hovers at their kitchen threshold, arms crossed and eyes on Will, mirroring his concerned expression.
There’s a beat of silence, then more static, like Hopper’s letting out a deep breath.
