Jake scrubbed his eyes and looked up at Pastor Trevor. “What exactly do I do?”
“On your knees.” Pastor Trevor instructed. “There, you will pray. There, you will find absolution.”

Bradley is Maverick’s child. There’s nothing he could ever do to replace Goose, and he didn’t do half as good a job as his best friend would have done. However, Maverick soothed nightmares and nursed fevers, negotiated during tantrums and cheered at every baseball game. And while Maverick did a lot of things wrong, you can pry parenthood out of his burned-in corpse. He loves his kid, and all he’s ever wanted is for Bradley to be whole and happy.
And maybe that starts with a real, honest conversation that is long overdue.

Her birthday was always the worst.

“You can continue to be a pain in my ass,” Beau sighs, looking up at the ceiling. “Or, you can take the offer of a free dinner with a beautiful and intellectually stimulating woman.”
“Oh, I definitely want to see this side of Cyclone,” Jake grins. “Domesticated.”
“You’re bordering on impertinence.”
“Me? Never.”
“Let’s go back to when you respected me and my position.”
Jake appears to settle down, but only slightly. He clears his throat and squares his shoulders. “I’d be honored to attend dinner with your family, Admiral. Just tell me a date and time.”

The thing is, now that he’s accepted being romantically inclined towards Buck, he’s pretty sure he sees Buck’s reciprocated feelings everywhere. It feels more like a matter of when rather than if. Like Buck’s a sure thing.
On the evening of Buck’s speed dating event, he comes out of their bedroom asking for help picking between two jackets, and Eddie simply says, “you don’t need to go to that.”
“Huh?” Buck’s eyebrows shoot up, framed by that blushed red birthmark.
Eddie shrugs, leaning back on the couch and kicking his feet up. “Go waste time if you want, but you really don’t need to.”
