She had no answer to that, so she put her foot to the gas pedal and jolted the car forward. She answered his continued stare with half a lie. “Just thinking about what I'm going to tell your uncle.”
Henry had been the first to call August his uncle. She was just grateful he hadn't gotten in his head to call him dad. He had seemed able to distinguish August's role in both their lives as something other than the typical. Uncle worked for him, and quasi-big brother worked for Emma.
