When Black Mask tries to torture Steph to death, she is saved by the hallucination of Jason Todd, the boy she only knows as the reckless Robin who walked straight into his own death. Even after the harrowing escape from Black Mask, he sticks around and while she appreciates his presence, Steph starts to lose grasp of what is reality and what is her own descend into madness.

Summary
The fence is ten feet high and discharges electricity when someone tries to climb it. Bruce had warned him of that, when Jason had first arrived. To keep intruders out, he had explained and even then the words, polite as they were, had sounded like a lie. As if there was any thief stupid enough to try and rob Bruce fucking Wayne. As if the fence has any purpose besides keeping Jason inside.
After living on the streets without walls to cage him in, Jason struggles with the concept of freedom behind the fences of Wayne Manor.

“Damian,” Bruce says, very slowly, “do you know someone named Jason Todd?”
Damian frowns at him. “No?”
“Real tall guy,” the Joker suddenly pipes up from the holding cell, “white streak in his hair. Kinda looks like Bruce Wayne, if you ask me!”
Damian blinks. “Oh. Well, I do know a Jason that fits that description, but his last name is not Todd.”
“What the hell is it then?”
Damian frowns harder. “Al Ghul.”
And just like that, Bruce’s worldview goes to complete and utter shit.

Or: Jason decides that if someone has to be a monster in this world’s shadows, it might as well be him. This decision might’ve been influenced by the fact that Talia al Ghul decided to spring her son on him and also gaslight everyone into believing that Jason is her eldest child. Also, he kills his pseudo-grandfather and kind of accidentally becomes the new R’as al Ghul, because by now, he’s way too deep in Talia’s con-shit to back out.
…It all goes over surprisingly well.

He opens his door to find Damian Wayne standing there with two swords in both his hands, visibly fuming. This would probably be more intimidating if the squirt weren’t at eye level with the middle of his autopsy scar and dressed like a walking traffic light.
“Hello, Red Hood,” Damian grits out between his teeth.
“Sup, Robin,” Jason says. “I just got done making mujaddara. You want some?”
Damian stands still as a statue for exactly ten seconds, his grip on his swords knuckle-white. Then he very firmly nods.

Or: Jason really wants to get revenge, on like, everyone, but he keeps postponing his plans because Damian Wayne insists on stalking him. Somehow, the angry chihuahua child worms his way into Jason’s undead heart. This is not a drill.

The clues had been there all along. Jason pushed a shaky hand through his hair as all the puzzle pieces came together at once.
The black-suited underbosses who showed up like clockwork. The fancy cars, the omnipresent bodyguards. The manor built like a fortress. The clandestine surgeries in the conservatory. The guns and knives squirrelled away in every room. The shooting range in the basement.
Bruce wasn’t just a wealthy scion and society fixture, he was also a fucking mob boss.

Summary
“Merry Christmas! Or— Pre-Christmas!”
Jason stares at the teen on his doorstep. He’s tall, for one, towering over Jason with broad shoulders balanced on top of a lean physique. He’s ill-dressed for the cold, coat nowhere to be seen. Instead, he sports a white turtleneck layered under a jean jacket and a scarf.
His baggy jeans wear a different wash to the jacket, and Jason feels himself judging the amount of distress on them. No one actually wears real shredding like that unless they buy them that distressed.
