He turned on the too-big couch, which Rett had dragged into his workshop years ago specifically so that Pyke could luxuriate on it while Rett did all the hard work. Pyke preferred his own company, but he often found excuses to exist somewhere on Rett’s periphery. Rett had even installed a sunlamp for him, on a stand craning over the back of the couch because Pyke liked to spread out as far as he could go—Pyke had it on now, eyes half lidded as it warmed his bones. “That’s news to me.”
“Well, our last job together put me pretty high in the ranks,” Ophelia cautiously tapped at the screen with the scaled pad of one finger, “so I can afford to take breaks now.”
“So you’re playing hooky.” Rett could hear the grin in Pyke’s voice.
Ophelia glared at him. “I’m not playing hooky, Pyke.”
“That’s all well and good,” Rett interrupted, “but why are you two having this conversation in my workshop?”

Trouble never seemed far off when Childe was around. For the most part, Lumine didn't mind that. Kept things interesting, for sure. Usually, their mutual brand of mayhem looked like epic battles against hilichurls and eldritch horrors from Abyss. But the moment Childe sheepishly croaked out "my parents think we're dating," Lumine just knew that they had stumbled head first into a new form of danger. Sadly, this one wasn't one they could stab their way out of.
Though frankly if this fake dating thing didn't go well, Lumine wasn't above trying it.

When the Daily Planet heard word of a new vigilante in Crime Alley that supposedly had no affiliation with Batman, Perry White thought it to be a nice short story—a quick in and out. After all, while the people of Metropolis had Superman, everyone knew of Batman, and a vigilante not working with him seemed interesting.
At least, that’s what Perry told his college intern. And her mentor Clark Kent when he raised concerns.
No one told her that the vigilante was intimidatingly attractive. Or that Crime Alley was the worse place in Gotham City. Or that her mentor would ask a friend to keep tabs on her. Or that the detective she’s staying with hates Batman despite working with him frequently. Or that the detectives neighbor was a really cute guy.
