“Oh my god!” You cried, “Please don’t shoot me! I have so many paint chips to collect, PLEASE!”He laughed, kind of spitting on you in that gross way people do sometimes. He smelled like a lukewarm fridge and body odor. What a dick, laughing at your paintchip collection. It's very respectable.., the paintchip collection.

“What’s Percy short for, Jackson?” Mr. D asked one afternoon where Percy had been roped into playing pinochle again.
Percy looked up from his cards, “it’s short for Perseus.” Mr. D was apparently known for getting all of the campers' names wrong, so Percy thought it was a strange question. Percy also thought Mr. D was a strange man–god, whatever–though so he didn’t say anything about it.
“Why did your mother name you that?”
Percy just shrugged. His mother had never told him why she had named him what she did, and now he would never know.
Mr. D looked at him for what felt like forever. “It’s an unfortunate name.” He finally said. Percy felt like he should have been offended–if only on his mother’s behalf, but there was something in Mr. D’s tone that made Percy not want to question it.
He looked back down at his cards.

Summary
When people thought of Poseidon they thought of the sea; Poseidon, Lord of the Seas, Commander of the Waves, the Stormbringer. Upon consideration they would add Earthshaker, for catastrophic events such as earthquakes were hard to forget. Few remembered, however, that Poseidon was also Lord of the Horses. Stormbringer and Earthshaker tended to squeeze that one out.
Percy had been able to talk to horses for as long as he could remember. He liked to think he understood them. Although he's not entirely sure why the new stallion thinks he's its foal.
Poseidon is not jealous that Percy thinks a horse makes a better father figure than himself. At all.

After battling underwater monsters, Percy is left heavily injured. Poseidon’s current deposits him at the shores of Camp Half-Blood to recover. However, as a an abyssal dweller, Percy cannot survive above Deep Water for long, so his father turns him into something close to human.
There, Percy immediately and irrevocably falls deeply infatuated in the heroic daughter of Athena, who wants nothing to do with him. That cannot be. He must prove himself a suitable mate!

Summary
It’s not that he’s “hung up on The Menace” as Dionysus so delicately put it. It’s just that it’s a bad idea. Awful, really. Percy Jackson’s got off-limits stamped across his pretty little forehead. If Zeus had sent Dionysus to that demigod camp over a nymph, then Poseidon would certainly toss him into Tartarus if he went near his son.
