Summary
Ling, the only daughter of a ruthless dictator, is raised not as a child but as a weapon, isolated, indoctrinated, and trained to kill. She is sent on an assassination mission that catastrophically fails, resulting in a massacre that exposes a horrifying truth: the destruction was carried out by a single child. Rather than condemn her, two enemy generals conceal the truth, falsify records, and secretly remove Ling from the war, giving her a chance at a life she was never meant to have.
Years later, Ling lives under a false identity as a quiet, emotionally restrained cadet in an elite military academy. There, she meets Orm, the warm and idealistic daughter of one of the generals Ling was once ordered to kill. Drawn to each other in ways they do not fully understand, the two form a bond that challenges everything Ling was taught about enemies, humanity, and herself.
As political tensions rise and long-buried secrets threaten to surface, Ling must confront the truth of who she is and what she has done.
