Summary
Nobody knew how hard it was to focus when his brain would never shut up, that when his teacher talked about medieval slavery all he could think of was his new campaign and how the party would have to rescue slaves from the rule of a tyrannical king, and then all he could think of was how to make the Goblin NPC they were almost certainly going to befriend funny so that he could make Will laugh, and then all he could think of was Will and by then the class had ended and he was being handed another note home.

Or, Mike Wheeler struggles with being a teenager in the 80’s. The only pesky thing is he is hopelessly in love with his best friend, and god knows Mike doesn’t know how to handle that.

Summary
Some people would have thought their relationship was weird. Six teens, boundaries lowered, bonded over trauma that should never have happened, dating in a weird haphazard way. Trying to get back on their feet.
The best they could do was so survive. And if that meant Max dating Lucas and El and Mike and Dustin, or if it meant Will dating Mike and Lucas and loving El and Max and Dustin like family, then so be it.
None of them knew what 'polyamorous' meant, but that was okay. They didn't need to label whatever it was that they had.
They all loved each other, and that was all that mattered.

Mike grabs Will’s hands and tangles them with his own, blinking up at him through his long, dark lashes. His eyes are endless. Solid black, like the night above them. So shiny that Will can see himself, tipsy and happy, in the reflection. “I want to be stuck with you,” Mike whispers, like it’s a secret. “I don’t ever want to leave.”
Will sucks in a sharp breath, squeezing his hands. “Then don’t,” he whispers back, punched-out and honest. “Stay.”

Mike’s entire body pulses with frustration. “Because I’m not Tammy Thompson!”
Will can’t breathe. “But–”
“I’m not Tammy Thompson.” Mike’s eyes blaze. “I’m goddamn Mike Wheeler, and I’ve been in love with you since you set my hair on fire in science class when we were ten.” His jaw clenches, and Will feels like someone let off a grenade next to his head. “I realised I was in love with you when you left me for Lenora, and realised you loved me when you made up that bullshit about El asking you to make me the painting.”
Will feels the blood leave his face, feels his entire world shifting in an instant. “Mike–”
“And then you stand there and tell everyone it’s this crush that amounts to the same as some girl who didn’t like Robin back?” Mike’s voice cracks. “I– how am I that to you?”

Summary
“Neat. I’m Dustin. Henderson,” he adds, as if that just makes more sense to say it that way, “I live over there,” Dustin points across the road, “Who are you?”
He could make up a fake name. Completely lie about his entire identity (he’d always wanted to do that). It’s not like Dustin would hear his name and immediately say “Mike Wheeler? The loser who was kicked out of his school for kissing in the bathroom and lost his dad in one fell swoop?” because, as Mike graciously reminded himself, he wasn’t that famous.
In which Mike Wheeler leaves his home, moves somewhere else, joins the party, meets a boy named Will, and life suddenly gets a lot better.

“Why? Why won’t you ever tell me what’s wrong with you?” Carlton’s voice is filled with frustration, and it sounds like nails on a chalkboard to Will.
What is wrong with him. It’s such a loaded question. Why does Will wake up screaming sometimes? Why can’t Will handle the cold? Why are there days when Carlton’s hands on him feel like being kept under water with no way up?
And why can’t Will tell Carlton the truth? How could Will possibly explain it without sounding insane? What is the human translation for being taken and kept in another dimension, violated, and possessed, only to then be violated yet again—
This part of him is something Will is never going to be able to share with anyone else. That nobody would understand.
Why won’t you tell me what’s wrong with you.
“Because you wouldn’t get it.” Will somehow manages to say it without gagging.
And then, Carlton goes in for the kill.
“Oh, but Mike does?”
OR
After leaving Hawkins to go to college in the great city of San Franscisco, Will finally finds someone who loves him. The only problem is that the only person in the world who knows him, is someone else.
