“What?” Kakashi croaks, trying to fight back the emotions threatening to drown him.
“Besides Sasuke and Naruto. There was another person here.” Pakkun reiterates, turning his nose to the patch of blood. “They stood right there, not too long after Sasuke. The scent fades before I can tell what happened.”
Or: Someone else arrives at the Valley of the End before Kakashi. Naruto loses his memories and is taken in by a wandering Nin.

A mission captain who doesn’t seem particularly happy to be working with him again.
Iruka probably wouldn’t be particularly happy about this, either, if he wasn’t focused on just trying to make it home alive.
