Summary
Mel had thought her way right into a corner with only one option.
Feelings were messy, unpredictable things. She’d managed keeping them to herself this long, she could keep a handle on it with a one time perfunctory favor sex involved. She simply had to logic her way through it. Frank was her person. He would help her out because he was a good friend. The sex would be carefully carried out and rote. There would be no additional emotional attachment. Everything between them would go back to the way it always was and Mel could move on.
There would be absolutely no deviation.

Also, besides the shard of metal, the bruising and swelling along her abdomen suggests the possibility of internal bleeding as well, but we need to get in the OR to fully evaluate the severity of it."

Summary
“Mel, do you play hockey?” He chokes out, interrupting their scrolling on Mel’s phone.
“Oh, yeah! I guess it just hasn’t come up before now.” She says with a shrug and an easy grin. It’s hardly enough information.
Frank finds out Mel's been playing in a house league after work. He's being really normal about it.
