She watches with sullen eyes as the parents sob. That – not an uncommon sight.
But a very uncommon sight? Cassie McKay pulling her gloves off, her teeth digging hard into her bottom lip, and tossing them into a disposal bin, shoving past the parents without even a second glance. Not a consoling or solemn face like she usually wears, but one of pure fear. Victoria jerks her head to Robby, eyes beseeching. Asking without asking. He nods. Victoria peels off her gloves and slips out of the room, turning her head around to try and catch a glimpse of McKay’s retreating form. When she sees nothing, she looks at Dana across the room. Dana looks up at her from under her glasses and points a finger to the left. Victoria follows the movement, turning the corner. She sees the door to the stairwell swing closed and she catches it.
