He wore robes of a red so deep it looked like fresh arterial blood, cinched by a silver belt adorned with butterfly motifs. His boots were black leather, clicking softly against the stone.
Xie Lian gasped, the sound echoing in the stillness. The figure turned.
He was breathtaking. His face was a masterpiece of cruel symmetry, with a high bridge to his nose and a jawline that could cut glass. One eye was covered by a black silk patch, while the other burned with an intensity that made Xie Lian’s knees weak. This was no mindless ghost; this was a king.
"Is the God of Death here for me?" Xie Lian whispered, his voice trembling.
