Tim hadn't been out on patrol since Red Hood showed up. He'd hardly stepped foot in the Batcave since then. So, fine. He didn't have to help out as Robin. Contrary to popular belief, he wasn't completely useless outside of the suit. He had plenty of other ways to help out with the Red Hood situation.
Primarily, he had a kick-ass resume and a strong work ethic.Or.
Tim gets sick of getting pushed to the side and decides to get a job working for Red Hood to gather information. His best plan? Probably not. But it definitely got results.

He was supposed to keep it in the vault, hidden and secure. He was not supposed to pull it on and actually use it.
Because a selkie skin wasn’t meant to be worn and Tim wasn’t meant to take the shape of an animal. His pelt was just an unfortunate side effect of his genetics.Or.
Tim uses his pelt in ways his parents and Bruce would not approve of, and things go sideways real fast.

And it was all so loud and buzzing and roaring and he couldn't take it anymore. So he ran.

Hunter couldn’t breathe.
It all hit him at once, as though he hadn’t taken a beating already in his uncle’s mind. Grimwalkers. The dozens--probably hundreds--of Golden Guards who had come before him, all killed by Belos’ hand. And-- and he knew Hunter and Luz had seen it. He knew they had been running around in his mind.
Titan! Had his lungs always been this small? He could barely take in a full breath, the little air he could get flooding his head and making him feel dizzy.
“He-He knows we were in there,” he said, more to himself than to anyone else. “I-I can’t go back!” And saying it aloud only made it sink in more, only made his chest feel tighter and his heart pound harder.
“Kid, breathe.”
Hunter’s head snapped up, his eyes meeting the Owl Lady’s, her hand extended out to him.
It took him by surprise, and he jerked away from it. Legs shaking under him, he pushed himself to his feet. -

Fitzgerald’s fingers tangled into his hair and yanked his head up. Atsushi flinched and clawed at his hand, desperate to get away from him. He truly felt like a cornered animal. He’d been hunted and trapped as though he was something less than a human. Atsushi couldn’t, couldn’t keep feeling like that. Being treated as something subhuman was not unfamiliar to him, but that didn’t mean he was willing to just accept such abuse again. So, he put up something resembling a fight.
“Fighting back now, are we?” He questioned with a smooth voice. Fitzgerald threw Atsushi to the ground and slammed his foot onto the boy’s sternum, making him cough up more burning fluids. “I recommend saving that for the arena, tiger,” the man said as he ground the ball of his foot into Atsushi’s chest.

The Jedi order is your place.” He looked at Atsushi’s hesitant eyes for a minute. “So, what do you choose?”
Atsushi never had a place to belong, until he found a man trying to "become one with the Force." One thing led to another, and he found himself pulled into a group of gray Jedi. The path is hard. The line between the dark and light is all too easy to cross.
