Summary
What if a weapon could feel pain?
Ariel Pégoud, a student at the Imperial War Academy certainly wouldn't even have considered it a possibility. He's been up close to weapons just like that one—unfeeling, metal things pretending to be knights. Standing 30 feet tall, they are built to withstand all weapons and kill anyone who stands in their way.
He meets that weapon when he joins the revolutionaries. Their one shot at revolution: the very first prototype. It was more powerful and more dangerous than any production suit that succeeded it. He's chosen as the pilot, unwittingly. And then he learns that she can feel, too. She's just as broken as he is.
And with her help, he might realize that that's not the only thing they have in common, and she might have a solution to a problem he didn't even know he had.
With her by his side, and everyone looking at him as the beacon of hope, he has no choice but to fight.
And he will.
He will fight for a better future for her.

She hears a sound of agreement, too loud and coarse to be from Kris. That’s weird. Like, really weird, but still less so than their sudden need to talk like a romcom character. God, they are trying so hard right now, aren’t they? Loser.
“You know what I mean,” they say, and now they’re really in for it… Until they finish, with a completely unexpected—”Susie.”
Susie? Who the hell is that? Is there someone else walking in here or recording or- or something? Is Kris about to draw back a curtain and reveal that this was all an elaborate prank?
I’m Susie, she hears all of a sudden, in that same tone of voice she’s been speaking in. And shut up.
Rude. Wait, what that seriously-
I can hear you, dumbass, the voice says, a slight edge to it.
December Holiday is shattered across time and space—and one, surprisingly large fragment ends up inside Susie. Whether this development is for better or worse? Only time will tell.
