When Izuku next opened his eyes, he wondered if this was the afterlife, if the babbling laughter and shrieks of pure joy were reminiscent of the scattered memories from when he was four.
Over the noise he heard the harsh sound of clapping that encouraged him to look up. At the front of his 1st grade classroom was a teacher with short blond hair. She smiled sweetly at them.
Izuku remembered her, she had reached out after he became a hero, extending her joy. She had been such a nice person.
When the memory refused to move forward, Izuku found himself frowning, flexing his hands to see if he could.
They moved.
Bile surged up his throat, burning as it forced its way out onto the sticky carpet.
There were screams around him.
He felt himself be scooped up by the teacher. His body was detached from his mind. His eyes flitted over every face and surface, wondering why he wasn't joining Aizawa in the afterlife.
Why was he back?
