Summary
Mihawk meets the red-haired boy in his dreams when he is fifteen. The edges of the hallway they meet in are wispy, but the boy appears clear, his hair almost too vivid in contrast. Then again, this is a dream.
“Hawkeyes Mihawk!” the boy exclaims, a little too loudly. Then he smacks his face with both his hands. “Oh my god, I am so lame,” he mutters. “It won’t go like this in person. I’ll be cool. This can be practice.”
Mihawk wakes up before he can find out what the boy means, but doesn’t think anything of it as he gets out of bed to make himself breakfast—weird dreams happen all the time for no reason, after all.
It’s only when he sees the same exact boy again a week later that Mihawk begins to take note.

You opened it there and offered him the first sip, penitent follower that you were, and only after he indulged you, the sweet flavor bursting on his tongue, did you drink. He watched your lips purse around the top of the bottle, greedy in the way you swallowed, the bob in your throat bouncing as you closed your eyes and released an almost imperceptible shudder. A blood red and thin stream of liquid dripped from your mouth before you wiped it off with the back of your hand.
You paused when you saw him watching you. He knew his grin was stretched a little wider. He did not know whether you could tell that it was stretched a little tighter.
The path to revenge is littered with regret, but you are a mistake he is unwilling to make.
