    “Are your parents around?” Shouta had avoided asking before, not wanting to scare the kid off.

    “Nope.” Danny started picking the table, moving the cloth back and forth. He didn’t meet Shouta’s eyes, “They’re uhh…gone. Or I’m gone? It doesn’t matter, I haven’t seen them in a while.” There was a story there, but Shouta wouldn’t push. He knew a wound when he saw one.

    “Any other family? An aunt or uncle perhaps?” He tried instead.

    “Nope,” He laid his head on the table using his arms as a pillow, covering Digiorno from view, “none of those.”

    “Are you staying with anyone?” Shouta already knew the answer to that question.

    “Only if you count the cats as ‘someone,’” He sat up meeting Shouta’s gaze, “I’ve just been around.”

But, no, this was a child. He had to be around the same age as Aizawa’s typical student, and the fact had him biting back a grimace.

    Izuku gets sent back in time from a future of disaster.
    But the human body isn't meant to twist through time. It warps. Things change, meld, fray, and something that isn't quite human is left in its wake.
    Through it all, however, Izuku is still Izuku. He still loves his class, and wants to be a hero, and wants to save people.
    Maybe this time, he will do better. Maybe this time, he will save his loved ones, and the world.

    His eyes are a black hole where stars have survived. It is all-consuming grief, with only the tiniest pinpricks of hope. There is no green, no white, simply darkness upon shadows upon a void.

    Ink-lashings tear their way out of his arms, and Izuku screams, iron on his tongue to match the ground, but all he can see is that image, over and over and over, embers to ash to flame, and Shouto is gone-

    Izuku can deal with broken bones. Broken bones are easy. You go to the nurse’s office, receive treatment for about a week or so, and then, the problem is officially solved. Well, okay, maybe it isn’t that simple. But it’s still much simpler than dealing with broken memories.

    Something is wrong with One For All. Very, very wrong. And now, inexplicably, Izuku can’t tell his own memories apart from those of its vestiges, a condition which only seems to be worsening with time.

    This wouldn’t be quite so bad on its own, but with All For One suddenly on the loose, and his father returning for the first time in years after months of radio silence… suffice to say, Izuku is a bit overwhelmed. But he can handle it. Or at least that’s what he keeps telling himself.
