Summary
It's been 4 years since Haymitch has been waking up on his birthday with no reaping. That’s how he counted his birthdays. Not by his age, but by the year he ate birthday cake for the first time—his own birthday cake. This year, he gets to spend it with all the people that care about him (the ones alive, at least.)
(Haymitch deserves better and I tried making this fic as happy as possible but he won't ever be the same...)

The children were bored and it was causing problems for everyone. Trinity Santos was also bored. The board was slowing, and the waiting room was dwindling down as the snow became too heavy for anyone not actively bleeding out to attempt the journey.
Trinity grinned and leaned close to the children. “Have any of you ever gotten a cast?” They all shook their heads. “Do you wanna see one?” Trinity asked, conspiratorily. The tallest stepped forward, eyeing Trinity with reasonable suspicion. “We might.”
