Summary
It was rather unusual for a twelve-year-old to have two full-replacement automail limbs. Edward typically tried to cover every inch of skin and metal to avoid the questions, but unfortunately, it couldn’t always be helped. When asked the question, “How’d you lose your limbs?”, the usual story was that Ed had lost them in the Eastern Conflict.
But what if he decided to take a more… interesting approach? After all, if Al wears the armor as a hobby, why can’t Ed have lost his arm against a bear?
…
Or, Fullmetal Alchemist where everything is the same but Ed comes up with increasingly more insane ways for him to be short a few body parts.

Edward is still stranded in the wrong Amestris. He’s surrounded by people he knew and would rather take off than put up with them all, but the Elric-Mustang-Rockbell alliance is persistent if nothing else.
He goes along with it. Begrudgingly.
Maybe one Elric wasn’t enough to break the laws of space and time, but three? Who knows.Or

Summary
Edward should be dead. Bullet to the back, straight through his lungs and out the other side. But instead he wakes up back in Amestris, fully alive and baffled. Problem is, this isn’t his Amestris. Someone’ll catch on eventually, so he runs and hopes they don’t follow. Unfortunately for him, Mustang’s team is stubborn in every world and already has a collective degree in conspiracy-busting.

‘‘I used to think Fullmetal was a crude nod at your prosthetics…’’
Roy Mustang’s words were laced with a thoughtful hum, and Edward tried not to feel hurt by the misassumption. Many heard his title and assumed it came down to his automail arm and leg. Ed had just hoped the Colonel – after everything – would’ve been different; that Mustang would’ve looked past Edward’s ill-fitting uniform and cripplingly-heavy automail and only see him as a person.
‘‘But,’’ Mustang continued, pensive, ‘‘I think they spelled your title wrong. You’re not Fullmetal, you should be Fullmettle. As in, you are full of mettle.’’
Edward blinked, utterly baffled.
‘‘Mettle, kid. M-E-T-T-L-E.’’
Mustang spelled it out for him. Literally. A genuine smile tugged at the Colonel’s lips as he rumbled out a fleeting chuckle, affectionately sweeping a hand over the top of Edward's golden crown. The boy's throat constricted as an annoying warm blur suddenly invaded his vision. He had experienced more kind words and actions under this man’s brief command than he had experienced in a long, long time.
It was just a shame that it was only a temporary arrangement.
