"You weren't in the labs earlier today." Optimus motions with a tilt of his helm, pointedly glancing at the frame-less helm Ratchet still held, mesh itching with every second his lover's hands stayed off his own frame.
Ratchet notices, smirk widening, and lets go of the helm he'd been holding, not minding the way it thuds to the ground, and walks closer to Optimus, step by step, until they're almost helm-to-helm, and Optimus can breathe him in without effort.
"I was. Left three cycles ago." He pushes Optimus against the berth, straddling him and pinning him down with his hips. The air grows heavy as Ratchet reaches up to fiddle with Optimus's dentae, their optics meeting for a moment before Optimus groans softly, knowing what comes next. His spike throbs in its chamber.

He already knew so much before they were conjux endurae, and he thrills in each new discovery.

Wheeljack blinks, stalled out. He turns the words over in his processor several times, and then, when they finally register, he feels slightly hysterical. There’s no way that’s actually what’s happening. Ultra Magnus is not in heat.
If it were any other mech standing in front of him, Wheeljack would laugh uproariously in their face. But Ratchet’s gaze is pinning and fierce and would instantly cower a lesser mech, and his tone is the no-nonsense one he only uses when somebody’s dying, and suddenly the hysteria passes and Wheeljack’s tanks are twisting for an entirely different reason.
Ultra Magnus is in heat, and he asked you to relieve him.

Ratchet needs to do researches in seedy Kaon, and Orion (and Megatron, for some reason) won't let him go unprotected. Cue Ratchet getting followed around by a silent, looming bodyguard, much to his ire.
Though maybe Orion had also ulterior motives into recommanding Soundwave's presence (that, or Soundwave is quick to take advantage of an opportunity when it presents itself...).

Summary
Soundwave was always a calm, level-headed, and reasonable mech. Even when things did anger or annoy them it would take much more for them to truly show it. Big displays of emotion just were not their thing.
However, being sparked was a whole different story with a whole different side of Soundwave to show for it.
It was well known that carriers were often more sensitive in addition to the need for transfluid as the sparkling continued to develop. To anyone that found themselves at the end of Soundwave’s needy, intense focus however, they might argue it was much more than all of that.
Not that they could complain, because Soundwave did cut a very pleasing figure with their boxy frame, heavier thanks to the life forming inside. And who could blame them for the intensity, with how sensitive and needy they were, it was a miracle they could function normally at all. It was because of this that Soundwave found themself sauntering down to Megatron’s quarters for a third time that cycle.
